Itanagar, July 24: Monyul FC created history by emerging as the champions of the inaugural Arunachal Women's League 2026, marking a significant milestone for women's football in Arunachal Pradesh. The league, organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA), concluded at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium, Yupia, after beginning on July 15.

Congratulating the champions, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed Monyul FC's achievement, saying the team had etched its name in history by lifting the first-ever Arunachal Women's League trophy.
"Congratulations to every player, coach, support staff, and everyone who stood behind the team throughout this remarkable journey. May this be the beginning of many more victories, and may women's football in Arunachal Pradesh continue to scale greater heights," the Chief Minister said.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also extended his congratulations, describing the title win as a historic achievement for the club and a proud moment for football in the state. He praised the players, coaches, support staff and everyone associated with the team, wishing them continued success in the years ahead.
The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for making the maiden edition of the league a success. In a statement, the APFA thanked participating clubs, players, coaches, match officials, volunteers, sponsors, media partners and football fans for their unwavering support and contribution.
The association said the successful completion of the tournament reflects the growing enthusiasm for women's football in the state and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and strengthening the sport. It added that the league aims to inspire young girls, empower women athletes and build a stronger future for football in Arunachal Pradesh.
Several individual awards were also presented at the conclusion of the tournament. Yumlam Lali of Kurung Kumey DFA was named Best Player of the League, while Kurung Kumey DFA finished as the runners-up.
Yameh Tapen of Monyul FC received the Best Goalkeeper award, while Puja Pachi, also representing Monyul FC, finished as the Top Scorer of the tournament.
The successful staging of the inaugural Arunachal Women's League is being seen as a major step forward in the development of women's football in the state, providing a competitive platform for talented players and encouraging greater participation in the sport. With the first edition now concluded, the league is expected to become an important fixture in Arunachal Pradesh's football calendar, nurturing the next generation of women footballers.
