Shillong, July 23: The Government of Meghalaya and the State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the State Government Salary Package (SGSP), introducing a range of enhanced financial and banking benefits for government employees across the state.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma witnessed the signing of the revised agreement and described it as a reaffirmation of the government's commitment to the welfare and financial well-being of its employees.
According to the Chief Minister, the updated MoU offers several improved benefits designed to provide greater financial security, convenience and modern banking services to thousands of state government employees.
Among the key features of the revised salary package are enhanced insurance coverage, concessional loan facilities, upgraded digital banking services, family banking benefits, and zero-balance salary accounts. The government said these initiatives are aimed at making banking more accessible while improving the overall financial support available to employees and their families.
Speaking on the occasion, Sangma said the revised agreement reflects the state's continued efforts to build a responsive and employee-friendly administration by partnering with leading financial institutions to deliver better services.
He noted that government employees play a crucial role in delivering public services and implementing development programmes across Meghalaya. Strengthening their financial security and providing improved banking facilities, he said, would contribute to their overall well-being and enable them to serve the people more effectively.
The Chief Minister further stated that the partnership with SBI demonstrates the government's commitment to adopting employee-centric initiatives that enhance both financial inclusion and ease of access to banking services.
The revised State Government Salary Package is expected to benefit thousands of employees by offering a more comprehensive suite of banking products and services tailored to their needs. Officials said the upgraded package would also promote greater financial convenience through improved digital banking facilities and other customer-friendly features.
The Meghalaya Government reiterated that it remains committed to introducing policies and partnerships that improve the quality of life of its workforce while ensuring efficient public service delivery throughout the state.
