Mizoram Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar Elected President of Mizoram Olympic Association

Aizawl, July 25: Mizoram Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar has been elected as the new President of the Mizoram Olympic Association (MOA) for the 2026–2030 term. The election was held during the association's General Board Meeting at the MSSC Conference Hall, Republic Vengthlang, Aizawl, on Saturday.

The General Board Meeting reviewed the activities, achievements, and initiatives undertaken by the Mizoram Olympic Association during its 2022–2026 tenure. Members also discussed the association's future plans and strategies to further strengthen sports administration and athlete development across the state.

During the meeting, the General Board approved the association's activity reports and financial statements. Members also resolved to amend the MOA Constitution to align it with the guidelines of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the provisions of the National Sports Code 2026. The amendments are expected to ensure that the association's governance structure complies with the latest national standards for sports bodies.

Following the review of its previous term, elections were conducted to constitute the new Executive Board for the 2026–2030 tenure.

The newly elected office bearers are:

President: Lalnghinglova Hmar

Senior Vice President: C. Lalrinzuala

Vice President: Ronnie Rosanga Varte

Secretary General: V. Lalzawmliana

Joint Secretary: Rosangliana

Treasurer: Joseph Thansanga

The newly elected leadership is expected to focus on strengthening sports governance, improving coordination with affiliated sports associations, and creating greater opportunities for Mizoram's athletes to compete at national and international levels.

The Mizoram Olympic Association is the apex sports body in the state, responsible for promoting Olympic and multi-sport disciplines while coordinating with various sports associations. It plays a vital role in talent identification, athlete development, and the promotion of sports across Mizoram.

The election of Lalnghinglova Hmar as President marks the beginning of a new term for the association as it seeks to further develop sports infrastructure, support emerging athletes, and enhance Mizoram's presence in national and international sporting events.
