New Delhi, July 3: Mizoram Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who holds the portfolios of Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (LESDE), Tourism and Sports, held a series of high-level meetings with Union Ministers and senior officials in New Delhi to advance key development initiatives in the state, with a focus on MSMEs, tourism, skill development and sports infrastructure.
During a meeting with Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Jitan Ram Manjhi, Lalnghinglova Hmar discussed measures to strengthen the MSME sector in Mizoram and create greater employment opportunities for the state's youth.
The LESDE Minister highlighted that a majority of enterprises in Mizoram fall under the MSME sector and provide livelihoods to a large section of young entrepreneurs. He said Mizoram has one of the highest proportions of working-age youth in the country and therefore deserves greater support for MSME development.
He also briefed the Union Minister on the Mizoram Government's flagship "Bana Kaih (Handholding)" policy, under which several initiatives have been launched to promote entrepreneurship and support small businesses.
The two leaders also discussed strengthening skill development initiatives and the proposal to establish an MSME Technology Centre in Mizoram. Union Minister Manjhi assured the state government that the Ministry would extend necessary support once the required proposals and formalities from the state are completed.
Praising the Mizoram Government's efforts to empower young people, the Union Minister said the Ministry of MSME remains committed to assisting the state in expanding entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.

Lalnghinglova Hmar also met Suman Billa, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, to review ongoing tourism projects in Mizoram and discuss proposals for new initiatives.
The discussions focused on strategies to encourage tourists visiting Mizoram to extend their stay and explore more destinations across the state, thereby boosting the local tourism economy. The meeting also reviewed ways to strengthen tourism infrastructure and improve visitor experiences.
In another meeting, the Minister held discussions with Shyama Prashad Roy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, and other officials to review the progress of sports projects being implemented in Mizoram under the Ministry's schemes. Both sides assessed the status of ongoing projects and discussed measures to expedite implementation by addressing pending responsibilities at both the state and central levels.
Lalnghinglova Hmar also met Mugdha Sinha, Chairperson of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), to discuss tourism development strategies and training programmes aimed at enhancing the skills of personnel working in the tourism sector.
Additionally, the Minister held talks with Vineel Krishna, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, on initiatives to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote sports development in Mizoram.
The series of meetings reflects the Mizoram Government's continued efforts to secure greater central support for entrepreneurship, employment generation, tourism promotion and sports development, with the aim of creating more opportunities for the state's youth and accelerating overall economic growth.
