Agartala, May 31, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha attended a high-level review meeting with Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar at the State Guest House in Agartala on Sunday, where they discussed key urban development and power sector initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure and improving public services in the state.
During the meeting, the leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and deliberated on future plans to enhance urban infrastructure, improve service delivery, and strengthen the state's power sector. Discussions focused on accelerating development works, ensuring efficient implementation of schemes, and addressing infrastructure requirements to support Tripura's growing needs.
Officials from the concerned departments also participated in the review and briefed the leaders on the status of various projects under implementation. The meeting underscored the commitment of both the Central and State governments to work together in promoting sustainable urban development and strengthening public infrastructure across Tripura.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar addressed the 6th PM SVANidhi Programme in Agartala and felicitated beneficiaries of the scheme.
Speaking at the event, Khattar highlighted the transformative impact of the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, stating that it has improved the lives of millions of street vendors across the country by expanding access to formal credit, promoting digital transactions, and strengthening social security coverage.

The Union Minister described PM SVANidhi as more than just a loan programme, calling it a powerful instrument of economic inclusion. He said the scheme has empowered street vendors through Swarozgar (self-employment), Svavlamban (self-reliance), and Swabhimaan (self-respect), enabling them to improve their livelihoods and become active participants in the formal economy.
The programme also featured the felicitation of beneficiaries who have successfully utilized the scheme to expand their businesses and improve their economic conditions.
The day's engagements reflected the government's broader focus on infrastructure development, urban transformation, economic empowerment, and inclusive growth in Tripura and the Northeast region.
