Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority Receives Subhas Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award 2026

Gangtok,May 7: Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) has been conferred the prestigious Subhas Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award for the year 2026 in recognition of its outstanding contribution and distinguished service in the field of disaster management.

The announcement was welcomed by Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, who congratulated the Authority and described the honour as a reflection of the dedication, professionalism and relentless efforts of the entire team in strengthening disaster preparedness, response and resilience across the state.

The Chief Minister said the award is a matter of immense pride for the people of Sikkim and acknowledged the state’s continued commitment to effective disaster management and public service.

He also appreciated the efforts of officers, staff members, volunteers and stakeholders associated with the Authority for their significant contribution towards safeguarding lives and enhancing community resilience.

Prem Singh Tamang further expressed confidence that the recognition would motivate the organisation to continue its work in disaster risk reduction, emergency response and strengthening preparedness mechanisms across the Himalayan state.

The Subhas Chandra Bose Disaster Management Award is one of India’s highest recognitions in the field of disaster management and is presented for excellence in disaster preparedness, mitigation, response and rehabilitation efforts.
