Guwahati, May 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Monday night ahead of the oath-taking ceremony of the new Assam government led by Chief Minister-designate Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to the official itinerary, the Prime Minister will depart from Vadodara and is expected to arrive at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati at around 9:20 pm. He will then travel by helicopter and is likely to land in Guwahati at approximately 10:10 pm before proceeding to Narengi Army Camp by 10:25 pm.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to stay overnight at Koinadhara before attending the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.
The oath-taking ceremony of the new BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government will be held at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati. Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to take oath as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term after the NDA secured a massive victory in the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections.
The NDA reportedly won 102 seats in the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly, while the BJP alone secured a clear majority with 82 seats.

Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are underway across Guwahati, with elaborate security arrangements put in place ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival. Several senior BJP leaders and Union ministers, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, are also expected to attend the ceremony.
Himanta Biswa Sarma was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party and the NDA Legislature Party in Assam on Sunday. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya subsequently invited him to form the new government in the state.
