Kolkata, May 9: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton on Friday expressed confidence that West Bengal would witness a new phase of development and progress under the newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

The remarks were made during and after the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in Kolkata, where several political leaders and dignitaries from across the country gathered to witness the historic occasion.
Congratulating Suvendu Adhikari on assuming office as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Rio expressed optimism about the state's future under the new administration. He said the people of West Bengal had placed their trust in a government that promised development, improved governance, and a renewed focus on public welfare.
“You will see change in the state. West Bengal will also develop,” Rio remarked while extending his best wishes to the newly sworn-in Chief Minister and his team.
The Nagaland Chief Minister expressed hope that the new government would work towards accelerating economic growth, improving infrastructure, and enhancing opportunities for the people of the state. He also wished the administration success in addressing public concerns and fulfilling the aspirations of the electorate.
Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton described the swearing-in ceremony as a “historic moment” in the political history of West Bengal. According to him, the formation of the new government reflected the people's desire for development-oriented governance, transparency, and a fresh direction for the state.
In a statement issued after the ceremony, Patton said the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has consistently focused on inclusive development, accountability, and the welfare of citizens across the country. He expressed confidence that Suvendu Adhikari would uphold these principles and provide effective leadership to West Bengal.
Patton further stated that West Bengal possesses immense potential due to its rich cultural heritage, intellectual legacy, strategic location, and economic significance. He said the state is well-positioned to enter a new era of growth marked by increased investment, job creation, infrastructure development, and improved public services.
