Aizawl, May 18: The Mizoram Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Lalduhoma, on Monday approved a series of major proposals and draft legislations during a Cabinet meeting held at the Cabinet Room in Aizawl.

Among the major decisions taken was the approval and implementation of the Mizoram Startup Policy, 2026, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and employment generation in the state.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal for provincialisation of various categories of Adhoc Grant-in-Aid Schools under the School Education Department, a move expected to impact several schools and teachers across Mizoram.
Another key decision included reconsideration of a 2019 Cabinet decision to facilitate regular appointment of 58 Assistant Professors engaged on fixed remuneration in government colleges against posts created under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme.
The Council of Ministers further approved the appointment of retired IAS officer Renu Sharma as Adviser to the Government of Mizoram on a re-employment basis.
Several draft bills and rules were also approved during the meeting, including the Mizoram Engineering Service Rules, 2026, the Mizoram Regulation of Fireworks Bill, 2026, the Mizoram Water Information and Governance Bill, 2026, and the Mizoram State Medical Council of Homoeopathy Bill, 2025.
The Cabinet additionally approved the Aizawl City Traffic Police Warden Scheme, 2026, and the Mizoram Inner Line Pass Guidelines, 2026, under the Home Department.
In the urban development sector, the Cabinet approved the establishment of the Mizoram Urban Development Company under the Companies Act, 2013, along with draft amendments to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation Building Regulations, 2026.

Other approvals included allocation of land at Aizawl Venglai to the local council, allotment of Home Department land at Armed Veng South to Armed Veng East Presbyterian Church, and approval of the Mizoram Visit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Scheme, 2026.
The Cabinet also discussed issues related to fisheries rules amendments, exemption of royalty on broom grass and broom sticks, penalties against convicted employees of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), and plans for the commemoration of 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram.”
