Guwahati, May 21, 2026: Kunki Chowdhury, one of the youngest candidates in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections and the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) nominee from Guwahati Central, has completed her postgraduate studies at the prestigious Institute of Education (IOE), University College London (UCL).
Chowdhury, 27, graduated with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, describing her academic journey at UCL as a transformative experience marked by learning, personal growth and achievement. She said the programme deepened her understanding of education as a dynamic field shaped by leadership, people and purpose.
Reflecting on her time at the institution, Chowdhury expressed gratitude to faculty members, mentors, classmates and friends for their guidance and support throughout the course. She also referred to the graduation address delivered by IOE Dean and Director Li Wei, who encouraged graduates to become critical thinkers and innovators capable of contributing positively to society.
Before pursuing higher studies in London, Chowdhury studied business administration at NMIMS, Mumbai. Following her return to Assam, she became actively involved in her family’s education-focused non-profit organisation and later entered politics.
In the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, Chowdhury contested from the Guwahati Central constituency on an AJP ticket, emerging as one of the youngest candidates in the electoral fray. During her campaign, she focused on urban governance and civic issues affecting residents of Guwahati, including artificial flooding, drainage management, waste disposal, youth employment, skill development and women’s safety.
