Dibrugarh, May 25: Dibrugarh University and Miranda House, University of Delhi on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening academic collaboration, interdisciplinary research, student exchange and women-led development initiatives between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed at the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University by Registrar Dr. Paramananda Sonowal in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof Jiten Hazarika.
According to officials, the MoU seeks to promote collaborative academic and research initiatives across multiple disciplines, along with internship programmes and international partnerships between the institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Jiten Hazarika described the agreement as an important step towards strengthening ties between northeastern India and the national capital. He emphasised that joint research projects, co-authored publications and structured student internships would become key focus areas under the collaboration.
Representing Miranda House during the programme were Professors Bashabi Gupta, Ankita Medhi and Somdutta Sinha Roy, along with members of the North East Regional Research and Resource Centre (NERRRC), a multidisciplinary undergraduate research centre based at Miranda House and supported by the North Eastern Council.
The NERRRC focuses on women-led development, entrepreneurship, skill training and research initiatives in the Northeast region.
In a message shared during the programme, Prof Bijayalaxmi Nanda said the collaboration would help strengthen academic engagement with Northeast India while promoting innovation, sustainability and women-led development.

She stated that the partnership would contribute towards research, innovation and nation-building by amplifying voices from Northeast India, particularly on issues relating to Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), women’s empowerment and climate change studies.
The event was also attended by Chairperson of the Centre for Atmospheric Studies at Dibrugarh University, Prof Kalyan Bhuyan, along with faculty members Dr. Binita Pathak and Dr. Barsha Kakoty. Information-cum-Law Officer Devraj Sarmah and other university officials were also present during the signing ceremony.
Officials said the MoU marks a significant step towards expanding academic cooperation between institutions in Northeast India and the national capital while creating opportunities for collaborative research and student engagement.
