Assam Chief Secretary Chairs Review of NEET-UG Re-Exam Arrangements Across Assam

Guwahati, May 30, 2026: The Assam government has intensified preparations for the upcoming NEET-UG 2026 Re-Examination, scheduled to be held on June 21, with Chief Secretary Ravi Kota chairing a comprehensive video conference with all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) across the state.

The review meeting was conducted jointly with the Director General of Police, Assam, in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and the guidelines issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

During the meeting, officials reviewed district-wise preparedness and assessed arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination. The re-examination will be conducted at 88 examination centres across 17 examination districts, covering more than 43,000 candidates throughout Assam.

The Chief Secretary issued detailed instructions aimed at ensuring a secure, transparent, and student-friendly examination environment while minimizing any logistical or administrative challenges. Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police were directed to personally supervise all examination-related arrangements in their respective districts.

Key aspects discussed during the review included examination centre readiness, deployment of security personnel, installation and functioning of CCTV surveillance systems, biometric verification procedures, power backup arrangements, transportation support for candidates, and effective coordination among various departments and agencies.

Officials were also instructed to strictly enforce the dual-layer frisking protocol and ensure the secure handling, storage, and transportation of confidential examination materials to maintain the integrity of the examination process.

Special emphasis was placed on candidate welfare and comfort. Authorities were directed to ensure the availability of drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, functioning fans, clean washrooms, shaded waiting areas, and other essential amenities at all examination centres.

The Chief Secretary further instructed all concerned officers to remain fully vigilant and responsive in the lead-up to and during the examination to ensure its smooth, fair, and secure conduct across the state.
