Itanagar, May 14, 2026: The Arunachal Pradesh Police Badminton Team delivered an outstanding performance at the All India Police Badminton Cluster 2026, securing multiple medals across various categories and bringing pride and recognition to the state through their remarkable sporting achievements.

The team's success drew praise from Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who congratulated the players and commended their dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence. He said the achievements reflect not only the sporting talent within the Arunachal Pradesh Police force but also the spirit of perseverance and teamwork displayed by its personnel.
Among the standout performers was Superintendent of Police (SP) Dekio Gumja, who emerged as one of the stars of the tournament. Gumja clinched the Gold Medal in the Gazetted Officers (GOs) Men's Singles 35+ category, showcasing exceptional skill and determination throughout the competition. He further added to his medal tally by winning Bronze Medals in both the GOs Men's Singles (Open) and GOs Open Doubles events.
In the doubles category, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Paul Jerang partnered with Gumja to secure the Bronze Medal in the GOs Open Doubles event, contributing to the team's overall success.
The women athletes of the Arunachal Pradesh Police also made their mark at the national-level tournament. Lady Constable Apali Mega delivered an impressive performance to win the Silver Medal in the Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs) Women's Singles 35+ category, demonstrating resilience and competitive spirit.
Another notable achievement came from Assistant Sub-Inspector (Technical) Monya Riba, who secured a Bronze Medal in the NGOs Men's Singles 50+ category, highlighting the depth of talent within the force.
Meanwhile, the duo of Lady Constable Nang Propha Namchoom and Lady Constable Phetan Wangsuham earned a Bronze Medal in the NGOs Women's Open Doubles event, further strengthening Arunachal Pradesh's medal haul at the championship.
Congratulating the medal winners, Chowna Mein stated that their accomplishments reflect the professionalism, determination, and sporting excellence of the Arunachal Pradesh Police. He noted that balancing demanding policing duties with high-level sporting performance is a commendable achievement.
