Changlang Police, with assistance from Kerala Police and CMCU PHQ Itanagar, arrested absconding murder accused Aditya Rai alias Maina from Kozhikode, Kerala, in connection with the murder of Raju Bhuyan in Changlang district.

According to police officials, the case relates to the murder of Raju Bhuyan, which occurred at Tuhi Veneer Mill located at 9th Mile under the jurisdiction of Namtok Police Station. Following the incident, a case was registered on February 22, 2026, as Namtok PS Case No. 02/2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Investigators stated that the accused fled the district soon after the crime and remained on the run for several months, making efforts to evade arrest. However, sustained investigation, intelligence gathering, and technical surveillance enabled police to track his movements across state boundaries.

Acting on specific human intelligence inputs and digital evidence, police eventually traced the suspect to Kozhikode in Kerala. A special team was then constituted to carry out the arrest operation.

The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Krishan Kumar, Officer-in-Charge of Namtok Police Station, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Changlang, Kirli Padu, IPS. The team worked in close coordination with the Crime and Criminal Monitoring Unit (CMCU), Police Headquarters, Itanagar, and the Kerala Police to locate and apprehend the accused.

The accused, identified as Aditya Rai alias Maina, was successfully arrested on May 7, 2026, from Kozhikode after a carefully planned interstate operation. Following his arrest, police obtained the necessary transit remand and brought him back to Arunachal Pradesh to face legal proceedings.

Officials said the accused is currently in police custody and further investigation into the case is underway.
