In a statement dated April 8, the organisation said the allegations linking it to the incident are “entirely unfounded” and described them as a deliberate attempt to misattribute blame in an already volatile situation.
The UKNA stated that its objective remains the pursuit of a political solution within the framework of the Constitution of India, adding that the organisation does not condone or engage in violence against innocent civilians, particularly children.
The group also claimed it has been safeguarding buffer zones to prevent communal escalation and maintain peace in sensitive areas.
In the statement, the organisation further refuted media reports suggesting that three of its members were arrested in connection with the attack, calling such claims “baseless and false.”
The UKNA urged the media and authorities to act responsibly and avoid prematurely linking the organisation to the incident, warning that such reporting could deepen mistrust and aggravate tensions in the region.
The statement was issued by the Legal Affairs Department of the United Kuki National Army.
