New Delhi, April 8: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held discussions on key developmental priorities of the state.

During the meeting, Tamang congratulated the Prime Minister on becoming the longest-serving head of government in India and described the interaction as warm, cordial and meaningful.
The Chief Minister briefed Modi on Sikkim’s major developmental needs and explored avenues for strengthening central support in areas such as infrastructure development, sustainable growth and public welfare.
Tamang also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the reopening of the Nathu La Pass trade route, part of the historic Silk Route, which is scheduled to resume in June 2026. He said the move would significantly benefit local communities and traders in the region.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister invited the Prime Minister to attend the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim Statehood, an invitation that Modi accepted.
Tamang also thanked the Government of India for its continued guidance and support in ensuring the sustained development and prosperity of Sikkim.
