Imphal, April 11: Security forces carried out a series of operations across Manipur, destroying multiple bunkers, recovering arms and explosives, and arresting two individuals in separate incidents over the past two days, according to Manipur Police.
On April 11, security forces destroyed 14 bunkers at Sikibung and seven bunkers at Mongkot Chepu village under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district. During the operation, 11 empty cases were also recovered from the area.
In another operation on the same day, security forces recovered several items from the tri-junction area of Maojang, Libung, Gomnom and T Khonunjang villages under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The recovered items included two 9mm pistols with magazines, 13 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two combat uniforms, a pair of jungle shoes and a backpack. The IEDs were safely destroyed on the spot.
Meanwhile, on April 10, Manipur Police arrested two residents of Vengnuam, Singngat in Churachandpur district from Hiangtan village under Behiang Police Station. The arrested individuals were identified as H. Kamtunmung (50) and Paulianlal (49).
Police seized 45 soap cases of brown sugar, a Maruti Gypsy, two mobile phones, and two bags from their possession.
