In a statement issued by NESO chairman Samuel B. Jyrwa, the organisation expressed deep concern over repeated bloodshed, civilian deaths, and the prolonged breakdown of peace in the state, describing the situation as a grave humanitarian crisis.
NESO said the recurring attacks on innocent civilians have caused immense suffering to families and communities while steadily weakening social harmony across the region. The organisation noted that the pain and loss experienced by the people of Manipur is deeply felt across the entire Northeast.
“The repeated acts of violence against unarmed civilians represent a serious threat to human dignity, security, and the fundamental right to live peacefully,” Jyrwa said.
The student body also questioned the inability of both the state and Central governments to effectively address the crisis, calling the continued failure to restore normalcy deeply concerning.
NESO demanded immediate, fair and transparent intervention to prevent further escalation of violence and stressed that those responsible for attacks must be identified and brought to justice without delay.
At the same time, the organisation appealed to all communities and stakeholders in Manipur to exercise restraint and reject violence, emphasising that dialogue, mutual respect and reconciliation remain the only viable path towards lasting peace.
