Nagaland Dy CM Calls for Stronger Role of Women at 9th Lotha Eloe Hoho General Conference

Wokha, April 28, 2026:  Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton underscored the vital role of women in shaping society and driving development while attending the 9th Lotha Eloe Hoho General Conference held at the Town Hall in Wokha. The conference was organised under the theme “Women of Vision, Shaping the Future,” bringing together community leaders, women representatives, and members of the public to discuss issues concerning women’s empowerment and social progress.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mhondamo Ovung, Wokha Deputy Commissioner Mhathung Tsanglao, Superintendent of Police Relo Aye, and other officials and community leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Patton emphasized that the progress and prosperity of society depend on education, equal opportunities, unity, and the active participation of women in all spheres of life. He stated that women have long been the backbone of families and communities, playing crucial roles not only in households but also in public life, education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and community service.

The Deputy Chief Minister noted that women continue to make significant contributions to the social and economic development of Nagaland and stressed the need to create an environment where they can fully realize their potential. He said empowering women through education and opportunities would help build stronger communities and a more prosperous future.

Patton also praised the strong turnout and spirit of unity displayed during the conference, describing it as a reflection of the commitment of Lotha women toward community development and collective progress. He commended the Lotha Eloe Hoho for providing a platform that encourages women to participate actively in discussions and initiatives that benefit society.

Referring to Wokha as the “Land of Plenty,” the Deputy Chief Minister encouraged the community to strengthen agriculture and farming activities, noting that the district possesses abundant natural resources and agricultural potential. He urged people to embrace the dignity of labour and work collectively toward enhancing agricultural productivity and economic self-reliance.

Highlighting the importance of cultural preservation, Patton called upon the younger generation to value and preserve their mother tongue. He stressed that language is an important part of identity and heritage and urged parents and elders to pass it on to future generations.

The Deputy Chief Minister concluded by extending his best wishes for the success of the conference and applauded the Lotha Eloe Hoho for its continued efforts in promoting the welfare of women and serving the community. He expressed confidence that the organization would continue to play a significant role in empowering women and contributing to the overall development of society.
