Kiphire, April 13: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio led a high-level government delegation on a four-day visit to the remote Lower Tizu area under Pongro sub-division in Kiphire district from April 10 to 13, where he reviewed the progress of key infrastructure projects and explored opportunities for tourism development in the region.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by his wife and a team of senior government functionaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, Minister for Rural Development Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture Salhoutuonuo Kruse, as well as several advisors, legislators and departmental officials.
The visit formed part of the state government's efforts to monitor ongoing developmental activities in some of Nagaland’s most remote and strategically important areas. During the tour, the delegation inspected the construction of the Tourist Amenities Centre at Lower Tizu, a project aimed at promoting tourism and improving visitor facilities in the region.
The Chief Minister and his team also reviewed the progress of major road infrastructure projects, including the Lower Tizu road via Moya and the Setsu–Lalori–Phor road. These projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity for residents, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and strengthen access to border areas that have traditionally remained isolated due to difficult terrain and inadequate transportation infrastructure.
In addition to reviewing infrastructure works, the delegation visited Ranyak Khun Cave, a site considered to have considerable tourism potential. Officials accompanying the Chief Minister assessed the area's prospects for eco-tourism and adventure tourism, highlighting the importance of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the region while creating new livelihood opportunities for local communities.
During the visit, the delegation also interacted with members of the Mimi Circle Joint Council, where discussions focused on development priorities, infrastructure needs and future initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic condition of the people living in the area. Community representatives reportedly shared their concerns and aspirations, while government officials assured continued support for developmental activities.

Officials stated that the district administration of Kiphire, assisted by police personnel and other departments, ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the visit. Adequate logistical arrangements and security measures were put in place throughout the four-day programme.
The visit underscored the Nagaland government's commitment to accelerating development in remote regions, improving road connectivity, and harnessing the tourism potential of the state's border areas. By directly assessing ongoing projects and engaging with local stakeholders, the Chief Minister sought to ensure that developmental initiatives are implemented effectively and contribute to the long-term growth and prosperity of the Lower Tizu region and Kiphire district as a whole.
