Champhai, April 7: Lalnghinglova Hmar on Tuesday inaugurated three major development projects in Champhai district during a ceremony held at Thangtea Hall.
The minister formally opened the Heritage & Cultural Center at Champhai Vengsang, the Eco Resort Experience at Keilungliah, and the Construction of an Artificial Turf football ground at New Champhai.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalnghinglova Hmar said the projects were significant for promoting community-based tourism and sports development in the district. He emphasised that while the government initiates development projects, the people remain the key stakeholders and beneficiaries.
The Heritage & Cultural Center will serve as a venue for meetings, conferences, and cultural activities, while the Eco Resort Experience at Keilungliah is expected to enhance tourist facilities by providing cottages, recreational spaces, and other amenities for visitors.
The minister also highlighted that the artificial turf football ground at New Champhai would provide a modern facility for sports and help host quality football matches. He urged the Champhai District Football Association and local residents to maintain and utilise the facility effectively.
He further announced that a District Tourism Office will soon be opened in Champhai and that the Champhai Tourist Lodge will be upgraded to boost tourism infrastructure in the region.
The event was chaired by R. Lalrodingi, while technical reports on the tourism projects were presented by Executive Engineer Esther Lalduhsaki. A technical report on the artificial turf project was presented by Henry C. Lalrawnkima. Champhai Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aaquib also addressed the gathering.
The tourism projects were implemented under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme of the Tourism Department, while the artificial turf project is being developed under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Karyakram through the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
