The Chief Minister said he rushed to the hospital to assess the woman’s condition and directed authorities to ensure that she receives the highest standard of medical care and all necessary support.

Condemning the incident, the Chief Minister described the attack as “a barbaric act and an outright assault on humanity,” stating that it was also a direct attempt to derail the hard-earned peace in Manipur.

“Let there be no doubt, those responsible will be identified, hunted down, and dealt with firmly under the law. Such acts of terror will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at Tronglaobi Awang Leikai near Moirang, where a projectile - believed to be a mortar shell or rocket - struck a civilian house. The explosion killed a five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister, while their mother sustained serious injuries.

Officials said the projectile was allegedly fired from nearby hill slopes located more than three kilometres away. The blast pierced the walls of the house before exploding in the bedroom where the family was sleeping.

The Chief Minister appealed to the public to remain united and resolute against forces attempting to disturb peace and stability in the state.
