Kuki-Zo Council Condemns Attack on Mulam, Songphel Villages; Urges Peace and NIA Probe

Churachandpur, April 24: The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has strongly condemned the recent armed attack on Mulam and Songphel villages in Manipur, allegedly carried out by a Tangkhul armed group in the early hours of April 24.

In a press release issued on Friday, the council stated that the incident resulted in the killing of two villagers and the burning of at least 15 houses, leaving several others injured and many families displaced, including women and children.

The KZC expressed concern over the continuing violence in the region and stated that despite repeated provocations, the Kuki-Zo community has exercised restraint to prevent further escalation between communities.

The council also noted that there are internal conflicts and misunderstandings among certain Tangkhul factions and urged the public not to wrongly attribute blame to the Kuki-Zo community for incidents beyond their involvement. It further stated that major Kuki organizations have denied any role in the TM Kasom incident.

Since the case has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the council appealed to the public to refrain from speculation and allow the investigation to establish the facts.

Calling for peace and reconciliation, the KZC urged all communities to reject violence and hatred, and instead uphold values of love, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.
