Despite the bail order, Sonam remains lodged in jail in Shillong and is expected to be released within the next two days after the completion of legal formalities.
Speaking from Indore, her elder brother Govind Raghuvanshi said the family had not appointed any lawyer to represent her and had no prior knowledge of the bail plea.
“I learned about Sonam’s bail from the media. I have not appointed any lawyer to assist my sister,” Govind said, adding that another sister had travelled to Shillong to complete the formalities for her release.
Distancing the family from the accused, Govind stated that Sonam would not be welcomed back to their home after her release. “We have left Sonam to her own fate. Our family is clear that she will not stay at our home,” he said.
The remarks come amid growing tensions between the families of Sonam and the deceased Raja Raghuvanshi. Raja’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi has reportedly expressed fear for his life and accused Sonam’s family of dishonesty and betrayal.
The case had earlier revealed deep divisions within Sonam’s family. Following her arrest, Govind had visited Raja’s home in June 2025 and publicly demanded the harshest punishment for his sister, claiming the family had severed all ties with her.
