The meeting brought together representatives from various district athletics associations, providing a platform for direct interaction between national-level sports administrators and local stakeholders. The discussions focused on strategies to improve the structure and functioning of athletics associations at the district level, enhance athlete development programmes, and build a stronger foundation for the sport throughout Nagaland.

During the session, participants deliberated on the need to restructure and strengthen district athletics bodies to ensure more effective administration and talent identification. Emphasis was placed on organizing regular district and grassroots competitions to provide young athletes with greater exposure and opportunities to compete. Officials also discussed expanding educational and certification programmes for coaches, technical officials, and sports administrators to improve the overall quality of athletics development in the state.

The interactive session was addressed by several prominent figures in Indian athletics, including Lalit Kumar Bhanot, President of the South Asian Athletics Federation; Bahadur Singh, former president of the Athletics Federation of India; Adille Sumariwalla, senior athletics administrator and former Olympian; and Abu Metha, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN).

The speakers highlighted the importance of inclusivity, grassroots development, and youth participation in sports. They emphasized that athletics has the potential not only to produce champions but also to promote discipline, healthy lifestyles, leadership, and national integration among young people. The leaders encouraged district associations to work closely with schools, colleges, and local communities to identify and nurture sporting talent from an early age.

As part of its broader social responsibility and community engagement initiatives, the AFI delegation also visited the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home. The visit was organized to promote the values of sportsmanship, inspiration, and social inclusion beyond the competitive sporting arena.

During the outreach programme, AFI officials, athletes, and delegates interacted with children and members of the local community. Gifts were distributed, and the children were encouraged through motivational interactions that highlighted the importance of education, discipline, perseverance, and self-belief.
