Itanagar, April 24: Arunachal Pradesh athlete Dugi Lulu delivered a stellar performance at the All India Inter-University Ju-Jitsu Tournament 2025–26, winning two gold medals and bringing national recognition to the state through her remarkable achievement.

A student of Dera Natung Government College, Lulu represented Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) at the prestigious tournament held at LNCT University from April 20 to 24. Competing in the highly competitive –57 kg category, she emerged victorious in two separate disciplines, securing her first gold medal in the Fighting System event and her second gold in the Ne-Waza discipline.
Hailing from Toll Village in Keyi Panyor district, Lulu’s outstanding performance was among the highlights of Arunachal Pradesh’s most successful campaign at the national-level university tournament. Her achievement reflects years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to the sport and has earned widespread appreciation from sports enthusiasts and officials alike.
Arunachal Pradesh athletes delivered an impressive overall performance at the championship, winning a total of six gold medals and one bronze medal. The state's medal tally was boosted by gold medal victories from Langkung Adam in the –48 kg Ne-Waza category, Kago Asung in the –45 kg Contact category, Byabang Popai in the –57 kg Fighting System category, and Bikash Sungkurang in the –57 kg Contact category. Chera Ado added to the state's success by securing a bronze medal in the –63 kg Ne-Waza category.
The team’s remarkable campaign was guided by Team Captain and Coach Byabang Popai and Team Manager Pakpa Yengkhom, whose leadership and support played a crucial role in preparing the athletes for the competition.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein congratulated Lulu and the entire Arunachal contingent for their exceptional achievements, describing their success as a proud moment for the state. Officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Ju-Jitsu Association said the team's success demonstrates the growing strength of the state in martial arts and combat sports. They noted that consistent performances at national competitions indicate a promising future for Arunachal Pradesh athletes and reflect the positive impact of increased investment in sports development and training.
