Arunachal’s Chera Loku Wins Silver at World Taijiquan Championships

Itanagar, April 30, 2026: Chera Loku won a silver medal at the 5th World Taijiquan Championships held in Burgas, bringing pride to Arunachal Pradesh and the country.

Competing against top athletes from 38 countries, Loku delivered an impressive performance in Taijiquan, displaying exceptional control, precision and technique to secure a podium finish at the prestigious international event organised under the International Wushu Federation.

The championship was held from April 23 to 30, 2026, with core competitions conducted between April 26 and 29, attracting elite Taijiquan practitioners from around the world.

Another Indian athlete, Mepung Lamgu, also performed strongly and secured fifth place, reflecting the growing strength of Indian competitors in the global wushu arena.

Congratulating the athletes, Chowna Mein described the achievement as a proud moment for the state and the nation. He also praised the dedication and hard work of the athletes and expressed hope that their success would inspire young sportspersons across the state.

Similarly, Kento Jini lauded Loku’s achievement, stating that it highlights the immense potential of athletes from Arunachal Pradesh on the international stage.

The All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association also congratulated the athletes and credited coach Maibam Premchandra Singh for his leadership and guidance in preparing the Indian contingent for the championship.

Officials said Loku’s success marks a significant milestone for the state’s sporting community and serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across India.
