Itanager, April 20: Para badminton player Biri Takar from Arunachal Pradesh delivered an impressive performance at the Czech Para Badminton International 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic, winning two gold medals and one bronze medal.

Takar clinched gold in the Men’s Singles SL4 category and another gold in the Men’s Doubles SL3–SU5 category, showcasing remarkable skill and determination. He also secured a bronze medal in the Mixed Doubles SL3–SU5 category, completing a memorable outing at the international tournament.
Following the achievement, Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, congratulated the para shuttler, describing his success as a proud moment for the state. He said Takar’s accomplishment reflects his determination, discipline, and indomitable spirit.
Mein also highlighted that Takar is a beneficiary of the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Sports Person Scholarship Programme (2025–26), noting that the achievement underlines the importance of continued investment in nurturing sporting talent in the state.

Expressing gratitude after the victory, Takar thanked his coaches, partners Joao and Sofia, and several supporting organisations, including the Department of Sports, Arunachal Pradesh, GoSports Foundation, Badminton Association of India, and the Paralympic Association of Arunachal for their support in helping him achieve the milestone.
The achievement marks a significant moment for para sports in Arunachal Pradesh, with Takar bringing international recognition to the state through his outstanding performance.
