19 Arrested for Curfew Violations, Road Blockades in Greater Imphal

Imphal, April 20: Manipur Police arrested 19 individuals on April 19, 2026, for allegedly violating curfew and committing offences including road blockades and damage to public property in the Greater Imphal area.

According to police, the arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order amid recent unrest in the state. The individuals were reportedly involved in activities such as blocking roads, damaging public property, and breaching curfew restrictions imposed in parts of the valley.

Those arrested were identified as:

Nongthombam Lolin Meitei (33) of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai;

Samurailatpam Sibananda Sharma (28) of Uripok Bachaspati Maning Leikai;

Ningthoukhongjam Rishikanta Meitei (28) of Lamboi Khongnangkhong;

Chungkham Kaiku (21) of Patsoi Part-I near Excise Station;

Potshangbam Bhumibon Khaba (38) of Uripok Khwai Brahmapur;

Leimapokpam Romesh Meitei (40) of Nambol Wahengkhuman, currently residing at Naoremthong Samushang;

Hrithik Roy (23) of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak;

Hanjabam David Sharma (20) of Bamon Leikai;

Jayprakash Akhom (38) of Sagolband Salam Leikai;

Chungkham Sanatomba Singh (32) of Kakwa Sairom Leirak;

Ningombam Chetan Singh (26) of Baashikhong Mamang Leikai;

Lairenmayum Bikram (38) of Kakwa Naorem Leikai;

Moirangthem Haimo (53) of Awang Maibam Leikai;

Thingujam Francish (21) of Pebiya Pandit Leikai;

Thingujam Moramba (22) of Pebiya Pandit Leikai;

Wangkhem Kuladhaja (30) of Sairom Leirak;

Seram Manjit Meitei (25) of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai;

Yumnam Sarat (27) of Moirang, presently residing at Langthabal Kunja; and

Gulit Thongam (20) of Mayang Imphal, currently residing at Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai.

Police said legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused persons as part of ongoing measures to curb unlawful activities and restore normalcy in the region. Authorities also urged the public to comply with curfew regulations and refrain from engaging in activities that disturb public order.
