Dimapur, February 7: Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh arrived in Nagaland on Thursday and was accorded a warm reception at Dimapur Airport by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by State BJP President Benjamin Yepthomi, along with party workers and well-wishers.

The visit marked an important engagement between the Union Government and stakeholders in Nagaland, particularly at a time when discussions on peace, development, and regional aspirations continue to occupy a central place in the state's political and social discourse. Following his arrival, Singh held an interaction with BJP functionaries and representatives of the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) in Dimapur. During the interaction, the Union Minister congratulated those present on what he described as a historic and significant development for Nagaland. Singh emphasised that peace and development are closely interconnected and noted that sustainable progress can only be achieved in an environment marked by stability and cooperation. The minister reiterated that the development of the North-East region remains one of the key priorities of the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which seeks to transform India into a developed nation by the centenary of Independence, places significant emphasis on ensuring that the aspirations and potential of the North-East are fully realised.
According to Singh, empowering the youth remains central to this vision. He stressed that investments in education, skill development, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, and employment generation are essential to unlocking the immense potential of young people in the region. He added that the government is committed to creating an environment where youth can actively contribute to nation-building while pursuing their own aspirations.
The Union Minister also reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to inclusive growth and balanced regional development. He noted that the government continues to focus on improving connectivity, expanding economic opportunities, strengthening public services, and accelerating developmental projects throughout the North-East.
Representatives of the BJP and ENPO who attended the meeting expressed optimism about the future, stating that recent developments could pave the way for greater understanding, cooperation, and long-term stability in Nagaland. They also highlighted the importance of sustained engagement between the Centre, state leadership, and civil society organisations in addressing regional aspirations and promoting development.
