Imphal, Feb 12: Security forces on Wednesday recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from multiple locations in Manipur, while two active cadres of the proscribed outfit PREPAK were arrested in separate operations.

According to Manipur Police, a search operation conducted at the Champhai hill range under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East district led to the recovery of two .303 rifles, one .22 rifle, eight 12-bore single-barrel guns, INSAS live rounds, .303 live rounds, magazines, a locally made bomb, smoke grenades, tear smoke shells, Baofeng handsets and other materials.
In another operation at Awlmun village under Kangchup Police Station in Kangpokpi district, security forces recovered one MA-11MK rifle with magazine, a pistol with magazine, six single-barrel guns, two improvised mortars, INSAS live rounds, hand grenades with arming rings, detonators, communication equipment and other items.

Meanwhile, on February 11, Manipur Police arrested an active PREPAK cadre, identified as Angom Romio Meitei alias Tayai alias Ningthem (38), from Moirang Bazar Thanga Parking under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district. He was reportedly involved in a firing incident at Lairenjam Awang Leikai in Imphal West district in August 2024 and had been recruiting new cadres for the proscribed group. A mobile phone and two SIM cards were seized from him.
On February 12, security forces arrested another active PREPAK cadre, Haobijam Manaoton Singh alias Lakpa alias Ton (24), from his residence under Keibul Police Station in Bishnupur district.
