Itanagar, February 20: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday extended warm greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of its 40th Statehood Day, celebrating four decades of remarkable progress, cultural pride, and nation-building since attaining full statehood in 1987.
In a message shared on social media, Khandu described the occasion as a moment of reflection and celebration for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. He said the state's journey from its “dawn-lit mountains to vibrant valleys” stands as a testament to the resilience, aspirations, and collective efforts of its people. The Chief Minister highlighted Arunachal Pradesh’s unique cultural diversity, natural beauty, and developmental achievements that have shaped its identity over the past four decades.
Reaffirming his government's commitment to the principles of Seva (Service), Sushasan (Good Governance), and Sahyog (Cooperation), Khandu said these values continue to guide the state's development agenda. He emphasized that the vision of a “Viksit Arunachal” can be achieved while preserving the rich traditions, customs, and heritage that define the state.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conveying his greetings and for the continued support extended to Arunachal Pradesh. According to Khandu, the Prime Minister’s message reflected the spirit of patriotism, innovation, and determination that characterizes the people of the frontier state, from the high mountains of Tawang to the easternmost border villages.
Highlighting the state's progress over the past decade, Khandu noted that Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed transformative development in connectivity, infrastructure, healthcare, education, tourism, and livelihood generation under the guidance of the Prime Minister. He pointed to key initiatives and projects such as the Vibrant Villages Programme, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, and the Ujala Scheme, which have significantly improved the quality of life for citizens.

The Chief Minister also cited landmark infrastructure projects, including the Sela Tunnel and Donyi Polo Airport, as symbols of the state's rapid growth and enhanced connectivity. He further appreciated the Centre's efforts to preserve Arunachal Pradesh's cultural and spiritual heritage through initiatives such as the digitisation of rare manuscripts under the Gyan Bharatam Mission.
Concluding his message, Khandu reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous, inclusive, and united Arunachal Pradesh. “Jai Hind! Jai Arunachal!” he said, calling upon citizens to continue contributing towards the state's progress and development.
