Kohima, February 24: The Working Committee (W/C) of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPG) has reiterated its commitment to pursuing an inclusive and comprehensive political solution to the Indo-Naga issue following a recent joint deliberation.

According to a statement issued by the Media Cell of the W/C, NNPG, the meeting was convened under the leadership of Convener Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao. Senior leaders from various affiliated groups participated in detailed discussions on key challenges facing the Naga community and the evolving political landscape of the region.
The Working Committee reaffirmed its resolve to sincerely engage all Naga political groups and stakeholders to ensure a consolidated and inclusive approach towards resolving the long-pending Indo-Naga political issue.
The W/C expressed appreciation to former interlocutors and the outgoing Advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs (North East), and Government of India representative A.K. Mishra, for their patience and efforts in sustaining the peace process despite challenges. It also conveyed confidence that the appointment of the new Government of India representative, Ajit Kumar Lal, would bring renewed momentum to the negotiations.

Emphasising the need for urgency, the Committee called for setting a realistic timeline to resolve the issue, stating that prolonged delays continue to compound the hardships of common people and hinder societal progress.
The W/C also congratulated the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) for the successful execution of its agreement with the Government of India regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT), expressing hope that equitable development and prosperity would soon materialise in the eastern region.
Referring to recent violent incidents within Naga families and communities, the Committee expressed sympathy for the victims and appealed to all concerned to renounce violence and embrace dialogue in the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation.
