Mmhonlumo Kikon Appointed NPP National General Secretary (Political)

Dimapur, February 27: Mmhonlumo Kikon has been appointed as the National General Secretary (Political) of the National People's Party (NPP) with immediate effect.

The appointment was made by NPP National President Conrad K. Sangma under Article 11 of the party’s Constitution, in furtherance of the party’s objectives, principles, and organisational mandate.

In his new role, Kikon has been entrusted with structured coordination and dialogue with political parties and stakeholders across the Northeastern states to advance the party’s broader vision of “One Northeast.” He will coordinate with state presidents and office bearers to review political developments, electoral preparedness, and inter-state organisational matters.

He has also been tasked with holding regular consultations with Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies, and other elected representatives of the party to ensure policy coherence and unified political messaging.

Additionally, Kikon will design and supervise political programmes, conventions, consultations, and outreach initiatives aimed at strengthening the party’s presence and regional influence.

The official notification directed all state units and party functionaries to extend full cooperation in executing the assigned responsibilities. Party leaders stated that the appointment comes as part of an organisational reshuffle aimed at reinforcing the NPP’s strategic alignment and expanding its footprint across the Northeast.
