Mizoram: National Defence College Officers Visit Serchhip and Thenzawl

Serchhip, February 3, 2026: A team of 17 officers from the National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, visited Serchhip district as part of their ongoing study tour under the 66th National Defence College Course.'

After visiting key locations in Thenzawl on Monday, the delegation arrived in Serchhip on Tuesday, where they held a meeting at the DC Conference Hall (DC Pisapui Hall). The meeting was attended by District Commissioner Pu Paul L. Khuma, district officials, and representatives of local civil society organisations.

During the meeting, the visiting officers were briefed through a PowerPoint presentation on the overall profile of Serchhip district, including government initiatives, tourism potential, developments in agriculture and horticulture, rural development programmes, the education sector, and law and order measures undertaken by the district administration and police. An interactive session followed, during which the officers raised queries and sought clarifications on various aspects of governance and development.

Following the meeting, the NDC team visited Zawlpui Zau in Serchhip, where they observed local initiatives and government interventions related to fresh produce and horticulture development. The visit was facilitated by District Horticulture Officer Pu R. Lalrintluanga and his team.

In Thenzawl, the delegation visited the Anganwadi Centre at Tualvungi Veng, where they were received by CDPO Serchhip Pi Caryl Lalpari and her team. The officers also visited Government Thenzawl High School and interacted with students and teachers in the presence of Thenzawl SDEO Pi Melody L. Betlu.

The team further visited MV Handloom at Venghlun, a handloom cottage industry unit, where they were welcomed by EO Serchhip Pi Lalchhanhimi and the District Commerce and Industries Officer. The delegation also toured the Integrated Ayush Hospital in Thenzawl and interacted with its staff.

The visit formed part of the “Understanding India Study Tour (UIST)” programme, aimed at familiarising senior officers with India’s socio-economic and administrative landscape. The delegation comprised officers from different parts of India as well as international participants from Germany, Maldives, Morocco, Russia and Nepal.
