In his message, the Governor recalled that Mizoram became the 23rd state of the Indian Union following the signing of the landmark Mizoram Peace Accord on June 30, 1986, between the Government of India and the Mizo National Front. He described the accord as one of the most successful and enduring peace agreements in the country’s history, symbolising dialogue, democracy, and reconciliation.

Highlighting the state’s achievements since attaining statehood, Singh noted significant progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and sustainable development, while preserving its rich cultural heritage and social harmony.

Among recent milestones, he mentioned the inauguration of the 51.38-km Bairabi–Sairang New Railway Line on September 13, 2025, which connected Aizawl to the national railway network for the first time. The subsequent launch of the Silchar–Sairang direct passenger train service on February 9, 2026, further strengthened regional connectivity and boosted tourism, which recorded a 139.5% year-on-year growth.

The Governor also lauded Mizoram for being declared India’s first fully literate state on May 20, 2025, achieving a literacy rate of 98.20% under the ULLAS initiative. He further noted the state’s success at the India Skills Northeast Regional Competition 2025–26 and its recognition by NITI Aayog as the “Ginger Capital of India” in December 2025.

He highlighted Mamit district receiving the Best Election District Award on National Voters’ Day, January 25, 2026, for exemplary enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, reflecting the state’s commitment to democratic values.

Referring to Mizoram’s natural beauty, clean environment, and disciplined “no honking” traffic culture, Singh urged citizens to preserve these cherished qualities. He also underscored the state’s strategic importance under India’s Act East Policy due to its borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh.

Calling for unity in the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the Governor appealed to the people to renew their commitment towards building a stronger and more prosperous Mizoram and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

“Happy Mizoram Statehood Day. Jai Hind. Ka lawm e,” he concluded.
