Meghalaya CM Condemns Racial, Sexual Abuse of Nagaland Doctor in UP

Shillong, February 24: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has strongly condemned the alleged racial discrimination and sexual harassment of a woman doctor from Nagaland posted at AIIMS Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.

In a statement, Sangma said incidents of racial and sexual abuse against people from the North East should not become mere headlines that are sensationalized and forgotten until another case emerges. He described the reported outraging of the woman’s modesty as “deeply shameful” and unacceptable in a civilized nation.

“They are your sisters and daughters too,” the Chief Minister stated, emphasizing the need for society to treat women from the North East with dignity and respect.

Sangma urged authorities to take stringent action against those responsible and ensure justice for the victim. The incident has once again raised concerns over recurring discrimination faced by North East citizens across the country.
