Manipur: Security Forces Recover Arms in Imphal West, Dismantle Bunkers in Ukhrul

Imphal, February 18: Manipur Police on Tuesday said security forces have intensified search operations and area domination exercises in fringe and vulnerable areas across various districts, leading to the recovery of arms and ammunition.

On February 17, 2026, security personnel recovered a cache of weapons from an area along Ngairangbam Tanoukhul Road towards Longa Koireng under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district. The recovered items included one double-barrel gun, one country-made pistol with a magazine, 181 rounds of ammunition of different calibers, three magazines, two No. 36 hand grenades, one detonator, and a Baofeng wireless handset with charger.

In a separate operation on February 12, 2026, security forces dismantled four bunkers constructed at Mongkot Chepu under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district. During the operation, 24 empty fired cartridges (EFC) were also recovered.

Police said such operations will continue to ensure law and order and maintain security across the state.
