New Delhi, February 11, 2026: Mizoram Health & Family Welfare and Social Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii on Tuesday held a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi with Union Ministers and senior officials to pursue key proposals concerning women, child development, healthcare infrastructure, pension issues, and externally aided health projects.

During her meeting with Union Minister for Women & Child Development Annpurna Devi, the Minister discussed various proposals submitted from Mizoram related to women and child welfare. She urged early sanction of pending projects, including the reconstruction of dilapidated Anganwadi Centre buildings and other women empowerment initiatives before the close of the current financial year. The Union Minister assured that efforts would be made to facilitate approvals at the earliest.
Lalrinpuii also met Union Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav to discuss the establishment of 10-bedded AYUSH hospitals in Mizoram. The proposal for a 10-bedded hospital at Hortoki has been included in a supplementary action plan, and avenues for approval are being explored. Additionally, the Minister indicated that three more such hospitals may be taken up in the coming financial year. Continued support for salary components of staff under existing AYUSH facilities was also assured.
In another meeting, the Minister called on Senior Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Rural Development, Kalyani Mishra, to address issues related to old-age pensions. Officials informed that technical issues concerning SNA Sparsh, which had delayed central pension releases, are being resolved, and pending funds would be released at the earliest once the system is streamlined.

Later, Lalrinpuii met with Mio Oka, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), at the ADB India Residence Mission Office in Delhi. Discussions centred on strengthening cooperation for Mizoram’s flagship Universal Health Care Scheme, for which ADB has approved an externally aided loan. The Minister expressed confidence that the project would be implemented successfully, citing Mizoram’s effective execution of the World Bank-supported MHSSP project.
ADB officials assured continued support and stated that steps are being taken to expedite loan disbursement, expressing optimism that the project would be implemented successfully if preparatory processes are carried out efficiently.
The Minister was accompanied by Pi K. Lalrinzuali, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare; Dr. Mara S. Thansiami, Mission Director, NAM; Dr. Hmingthankimi, OSD, NHM; and Pu H. Lalhruaitluanga, PS to the Minister.
