Aizawl, February 28, 2026: Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Tourism, visited several proposed tourism development sites in and around Aizawl to review plans for upgrading and beautifying key locations.

The Minister inspected Sakawrhmuituai Tlang, Durtlang North, Sakeikhawthlir (Durtlang), Muthi, and Laipuitlang, where he held consultations with local community leaders to discuss implementation strategies. He was accompanied by Director of Tourism Pi R. Lalrodingi and other departmental officials.
During the visit, the Minister highlighted Mizoram’s vast tourism potential and emphasised the importance of planned and sustainable development. He stated that while the government has prepared development proposals, inputs from local leaders and stakeholders are crucial to ensure that projects preserve the natural beauty of the areas.
He further stressed the need for proper maintenance and management of infrastructure, noting that several past projects suffered due to lack of structured upkeep. For upcoming projects, he underlined the importance of formal agreements and coordinated efforts with local communities to ensure long-term sustainability.

The tourism development initiatives are being undertaken under SASCI Part-II (2025–2026) through the project titled “Development of Tourist Facilities & Attractions to Global Scale in the State of Mizoram,” with an allocation of ₹250 crore. The plan includes upgrading tourist sites, improving key tourist lodges, promoting wildlife tourism near wildlife sanctuaries, developing water sports adventure facilities, and creating paragliding infrastructure.
Lalnghinglova Hmar, who also holds the Sports portfolio, additionally inspected ongoing and proposed sports infrastructure projects at Durtlang North and Durtlang.
Officials stated that the initiative aims to position Mizoram as a competitive and sustainable tourism destination while ensuring community participation and environmental conservation.
