The inspection covered a number of strategically important sites, including Sakawrhmuituai Tlang, Durtlang North, Sakeikhawthlir (Durtlang), Muthi, and Laipuitlang. During the visit, the minister interacted with local community leaders, village representatives, and residents to discuss development plans and gather feedback on how the projects could be implemented in a manner that benefits local communities while preserving the environment.
The minister was accompanied by Director of Tourism Pi R. Lalrodingi and senior officials of the Tourism Department, who briefed him on the proposed works and progress of planning activities at the various locations.
Speaking during the visit, Lalnghinglova Hmar highlighted Mizoram’s immense potential as a tourism destination due to its scenic landscapes, rich cultural heritage, pleasant climate, and unique biodiversity. He emphasized that tourism has the potential to become a major driver of economic growth and employment generation if developed in a planned and sustainable manner.
The minister stated that while the government has prepared comprehensive proposals for tourism development, the views and cooperation of local communities are essential for the success of such initiatives. He stressed that development projects should not compromise the natural beauty and ecological balance of the areas concerned. Instead, tourism infrastructure should be designed to complement and showcase the state’s natural assets.
Lalnghinglova Hmar also underscored the importance of long-term maintenance and management of tourism facilities. He observed that some earlier projects had not achieved their full potential due to inadequate maintenance mechanisms after completion. To avoid similar issues in the future, he advocated for formal agreements and coordinated partnerships between the government and local communities to ensure proper upkeep and sustainability of tourism infrastructure.
The proposed tourism projects form part of the SASCI Part-II (2025–2026) initiative under the project titled “Development of Tourist Facilities & Attractions to Global Scale in the State of Mizoram.” The ambitious programme has been allocated ₹250 crore and aims to transform key tourist destinations across the state into world-class attractions.
According to officials, the project includes the upgrading of existing tourist sites, improvement of tourist lodges and accommodation facilities, development of wildlife tourism around protected areas and wildlife sanctuaries, promotion of water sports and adventure tourism, and the creation of paragliding infrastructure to attract adventure enthusiasts.

Discussions focused on improving sports facilities and identifying opportunities to integrate sports tourism with broader tourism development plans.
Officials stated that the tourism development initiative seeks to position Mizoram as a competitive tourism destination in the Northeast and beyond. The programme is expected to generate employment opportunities, strengthen local economies, encourage community participation, and promote environmental conservation while showcasing the state’s unique cultural and natural heritage.
The visit reflects the government’s broader vision of developing tourism as a sustainable and inclusive sector that can contribute significantly to Mizoram’s economic growth while preserving the state's distinctive identity and ecological resources.
