Dimapur, February 23, 2026: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has strongly questioned and rejected claims made by certain staff members of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School (HCHSS), who reportedly termed the Union’s recent intervention as “inappropriate” and described DNSU as an unrelated body.

In a press release, DNSU clarified that its intervention was aimed solely at ascertaining facts and mediating the issue to ensure an amicable resolution. The Union stated that the matter had already been settled peacefully through mutual understanding and that any attempt to escalate the situation after resolution raises concerns about underlying intentions.

DNSU maintained that institutions functioning within its jurisdiction must recognize its responsibility to safeguard student interests. It emphasized that its role is to serve the student community with accountability and transparency, not to interfere unnecessarily.

According to the statement, the issue in question was minor and could have been resolved internally by the school management. DNSU said it stepped in only after the matter entered the public domain and did so in good faith to facilitate dialogue. The Union asserted that the institution’s reputation was not harmed, as the issue had already been resolved.

The press release further alleged that poor communication and the reported rude behaviour of certain members of the institution’s management contributed to the escalation. DNSU also questioned the rationale behind the temporary closure of the school following the incident, stating that such decisions should prioritize student welfare and continuity of education.

While acknowledging that teaching is a demanding public service, DNSU appealed to the staff of HCHSS not to rekindle or escalate the matter. It urged all parties to maintain mutual respect and harmony, stressing that reopening the issue would go against the spirit of the understanding already reached.

The Union reaffirmed its commitment to protecting student interests and upholding transparency while working toward peaceful resolutions of disputes within its jurisdiction.
