Shillong, February 5: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday attended the PRIME Meghalaya Onboarding and Graduation programme held at Ward’s Lake here, marking a significant milestone in the state’s startup ecosystem.
The event celebrated the graduation of 75 startups from Cohort 5 while welcoming another 75 entrepreneurs into Cohort 6 under the PRIME Meghalaya initiative, which aims to promote entrepreneurship and innovation across the state.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the occasion held personal significance for him, recalling his own journey as an entrepreneur. He said listening to the experiences and aspirations of young founders was deeply inspiring and reflected Meghalaya’s growing culture of innovation and enterprise.

Sangma assured the entrepreneurs that while challenges and uncertainties are an inevitable part of the startup journey, they would not have to face them alone. He reiterated that the state government, through PRIME Meghalaya and other entrepreneurship support programmes, remains committed to providing mentorship, financial assistance and institutional backing to help startups navigate difficulties and grow sustainably.
The programme showcased success stories of graduating startups and highlighted the expanding support framework for entrepreneurs in Meghalaya, reinforcing the government’s focus on job creation, innovation and inclusive economic growth.
