BJP Has Tribal Trust, Only NDA Can Ensure Upliftment: Tripura CM Manik Saha

Agartala/Khumulung, February 8: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) enjoys the confidence of tribal communities, who see the party as a vehicle for upliftment and development. He asserted that only a BJP-led government can guarantee sustained progress for tribal people and said attempts to coerce or mislead voters would no longer succeed.

Addressing a public meeting in Khumulung, the Chief Minister said the strong participation of women reflected growing public clarity about the future of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with redefining governance and political accountability, noting that the Prime Minister’s emphasis on clean administration had set a standard followed by BJP and NDA governments across the country, including Tripura.

Dr. Saha contrasted the current administration with previous governments, alleging that earlier regimes focused on misleading people rather than delivering results. He further claimed that past governance promoted extremism in certain areas, which hampered development and stalled progress for affected communities.

Reiterating the BJP’s development-first approach, the Chief Minister said the party reaches people through tangible work rather than rhetoric. “The days of misleading people without work are over,” he said in a message later shared on social media. Emphasising inclusive growth, he added that the BJP aims to build a “new Tripura” by taking everyone - caste, tribe and minority - along while restoring the state’s ancient traditions.

Dr. Saha alleged that several illegal activities were taking place within the ADC without valid authorisation and claimed that “one after another, the veils of deception are being lifted.” He said the government possessed detailed information and that “everything will be revealed at the right time.”

Referring to recent controversies, the Chief Minister said a Village Committee had been unethically constituted without following rules, allegedly to create legal hurdles in Village Committee elections, and noted that it was ultimately forced to be cancelled. He also accused political opponents of indulging in “negative politics” by creating confusion over the proposed Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat area, adding that the truth had now been placed before the public.

Dr. Saha said he was encouraged by the response from Janajati voters in Khumulung, who, he noted, had expressed strong support for the BJP’s vision. He congratulated them and reiterated the government’s commitment to equitable development and participatory governance.
