Arunachal Pradesh Marks 40th Statehood Day with Grand Celebrations in Itanagar

Itanagar, February 20: Arunachal Pradesh celebrated its 40th Statehood Day with grandeur, cultural vibrancy, and a strong sense of pride at IG Park in Itanagar on Thursday, commemorating four decades of progress and development since attaining full statehood in 1987.

The state-level celebration was attended by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Governor Lt. Gen. K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), along with ministers, legislators, senior government officials, community leaders, and citizens from different parts of the state. The event served as an occasion to reflect on Arunachal Pradesh’s journey over the past forty years and to celebrate its achievements across various sectors.

The programme featured a colourful display of traditional dances, folk performances, and cultural presentations representing the rich heritage and diversity of Arunachal Pradesh. Artists and performers from various tribes and communities showcased their unique traditions, costumes, music, and customs, highlighting the state's vibrant multicultural identity.

People from different regions gathered to participate in the celebrations, reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity that has long been a defining characteristic of Arunachal Pradesh. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted the remarkable transformation witnessed by Arunachal Pradesh since becoming a full-fledged state. He spoke about the significant advancements achieved in infrastructure, connectivity, education, healthcare, tourism, and rural development over the decades.
