Arunachal CM Highlights Cultural Significance of Nyokum Yullo, Announces ₹67 Crore Projects in Bamen

Itanagar, February 24, 2026: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu joined the historic 50th Year Golden Jubilee celebration of Nyokum Yullo in the Bameng constituency, expressing pride in the occasion and offering prayers for peace, prosperity, and unity.

Celebrated by the Nyishi community, Nyokum Yullo is a traditional tribal festival that symbolises a deep bond between people and nature. The festival’s name is derived from the words “Nyok” (land/earth) and “Kum” (collectiveness or togetherness) and involves community prayers to the Nyokum deity to invoke blessings for a good harvest, well-being, harmony, and protection from natural calamities. It is a vibrant cultural event marked by rituals, traditional songs, dances, and communal gatherings that reflect the rich heritage of the Nyishi tribe.

On the sacred occasion, the Chief Minister said Nyokum is “not merely a festival” but represents enduring ties with nature and community. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Bameng’s growth, announcing ₹67 crore worth of development projects aimed at transforming infrastructure and ensuring sustainable progress in the constituency.

“Let this Golden Jubilee mark a new beginning. Let us work together to build a stronger and self-reliant Bameng,” he said, urging citizens to join hands in fostering development while upholding cultural values.
