Arunachal: 40-Bedded CHC, Heritage Museum and Buddha Park Inaugurated at Mechukha

Itanagar/Mechukha, February 17: Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, on Tuesday inaugurated a series of key infrastructure and cultural projects in Mechukha, Shi Yomi district, aimed at strengthening healthcare services and promoting spiritual tourism in the frontier region.

Among the major highlights was the inauguration of a newly constructed 40-bedded Community Health Centre (CHC) building. The facility is expected to significantly enhance medical services in the remote border area, ensuring better access to quality healthcare for residents of Mechukha and surrounding villages.

The events were attended by Pasang Dorjee Sona, Minister for Education, Rural Works, Parliamentary Affairs, Tourism and Libraries, along with other dignitaries. Sona expressed gratitude to the Deputy Chief Minister and the state government for prioritising the health needs of border communities, stating that the CHC would reduce the need for long and difficult travel for medical treatment.

In a major boost to cultural preservation, Mein also inaugurated the Gonpa Samten Yangchag Heritage Museum at Mechukha. The museum was consecrated by His Eminence Dzogchen Rinpoche Thinley Norbu Naksong, adding spiritual significance to the landmark. The initiative aims to preserve the region’s rich Buddhist heritage while promoting Mechukha as a centre of culture, history and spiritual tourism.

Further strengthening the spiritual landscape of the valley, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated the newly developed Buddha Park, envisioned as a serene space for reflection and community gatherings. He said the park is expected to attract tourists and enhance Mechukha’s appeal as a destination for spiritual and eco-tourism.

Mein also dedicated a sacred statue of Guru Rinpoche along with 108 chortens to the people. Describing it as a symbol of faith, wisdom and compassion, he said the spiritual landmark would inspire generations and serve as a centre of unity and cultural pride.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive and balanced development, Mein emphasised that strengthening healthcare and promoting spiritual tourism in frontier districts remain key priorities for Arunachal Pradesh.
