Longleng, January 13, 2026: The Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Headquarters of Namsang Circle was officially relocated from Kongshong to the Yonglok area in Longleng district on Monday, marking a significant administrative development aimed at improving governance and public service delivery in the region.
A formal programme to commemorate the relocation was held at the Yonglok Village Community Hall and was attended by Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio as the honoured guest. The event brought together government officials, public representatives, village leaders and local residents, reflecting the importance of the relocation for the people of Namsang Circle.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Rio stated that the decision to shift the EAC headquarters was taken after considering long-standing public representations and demands from the local population. He noted that the relocation was intended to strengthen administrative outreach, improve accessibility to government services and ensure more efficient governance for residents of the area.
The Chief Minister commended the people of Namsang for their active participation in developmental initiatives and acknowledged their continued cooperation with the government. He expressed confidence that the relocation of the headquarters would contribute to greater socio-economic progress, enhance administrative efficiency and foster peace and harmony in the region.
Highlighting the importance of decentralized governance, Rio emphasized that bringing administrative institutions closer to the people enables quicker decision-making, better implementation of government programmes and more effective response to local concerns. He urged citizens to continue working in partnership with the administration to maximize the benefits of the new headquarters and accelerate development in the area.
Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton also addressed the gathering and underscored the significance of strengthening administrative infrastructure in remote areas. Legislators B. Bangtick Phom and A. Pongshi Phom, along with Longleng Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom, were also present and shared their views on the developmental prospects arising from the relocation.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Nagaland Thejawelie Gregory, PRO to the Chief Minister Rusemtong Longkumer, Assistant Chief Engineer (CAWD) Sungtiba Amer and OSD (Security) Melite Kapfo.
Officials said the relocation of the Namsang EAC Headquarters to Yonglok is expected to improve administrative efficiency, enhance access to government services and bring governance closer to the people, thereby supporting the district’s long-term development goals.
