Imphal: The Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has extended the deadline for submission of applications for the recruitment of 419 Assistant Professor posts under the Higher Education Department, Government of Manipur, providing aspiring candidates with additional time to complete the application process.

According to an official notification issued by the Commission on January 19, 2026, the extension was granted after receiving representations from various quarters requesting more time for submitting online applications. The Commission said the decision was taken to facilitate eligible candidates who were unable to complete the application process within the previously notified schedule.
As per the revised timeline, candidates can now submit their online application forms until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026. The Commission has advised applicants to complete the online registration well before the deadline to avoid technical issues or last-minute congestion on the application portal.
In addition to extending the online application deadline, the MPSC has also revised the schedule for submitting hard copies of completed application forms. Candidates are now required to submit the printed copies of their applications by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, on all working days at the Commission's office.
The recruitment drive is being conducted under Notification No. 7/5/2024-MPSC (DR) dated December 11, 2025, for filling 419 Assistant Professor vacancies across various subjects in government colleges under the Higher Education Department. The recruitment is expected to strengthen the state's higher education sector by addressing faculty shortages and improving the quality of teaching in government institutions.
While announcing the revised schedule, the Commission made it clear that no further request for extension of the application deadline would be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates have therefore been urged to strictly adhere to the revised timelines and ensure that all required documents and formalities are completed well before the closing dates.
The notification was issued by M. Tomba Singh, Registrar of the Manipur Public Service Commission.
The Commission also advised applicants to carefully verify all information entered in their application forms before final submission and to ensure that the required supporting documents are enclosed with the hard copy. Incomplete applications or those received after the stipulated deadlines are liable to be rejected in accordance with the recruitment rules.
The extension is expected to benefit a large number of eligible postgraduate candidates and aspiring academicians across Manipur, offering them another opportunity to apply for one of the state's largest faculty recruitment drives in recent years.
