During the meeting held at the Secretary’s office, the MP conveyed the serious concern of the Mizoram Government, including the Chief Minister and the PWD Minister, over the ongoing improvement works on National Highway-6 (NH-6), particularly the Kawnpui–Sairang stretch, which serves as one of the State’s most vital lifelines.

Vanlalhmangaiha urged the Ministry to ensure that the works are completed at the earliest, preferably before the onset of the monsoon, to prevent further hardship to commuters and disruption of essential supplies. Responding to the request, Secretary Umashankar assured that the Ministry would take proactive steps to accelerate the work.

The MP also highlighted broader development works underway in Mizoram and requested the Ministry to fast-track clearance of pending files and timely sanction of funds to avoid project delays.

According to information received from PWD officials, several major road projects have already been sanctioned following the MP’s intervention. These include Performance-Based Maintenance Contract (PBMC) works worth ₹38.22 crore for the Champhai–Zokhawthar road and ₹109.58 crore for the Lawngtlai–Zochachhuah stretch. Additionally, a one-time improvement project for the Champhai–Zokhawthar road amounting to ₹10.33 crore has also been approved.

The developments are expected to significantly improve road connectivity and infrastructure across key regions of Mizoram, boosting mobility and economic activity in the State.
