Meghalaya Emerges Overall Runner-Up at National Canoe Slalom Championships 2026

Shillong, Jan 16: Meghalaya delivered a stellar performance at the National Canoe Slalom Championships 2026, held at Maheshwar, clinching a total of nine medals—two gold and seven silver—to finish as the Overall State Runner-Up.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma lauded the athletes for their outstanding achievement, stating that the Meghalaya Slalom Team continues to bring pride to the state through consistent excellence at the national level.

Manbhalang Kharkrang led the medal tally with a gold-medal finish, while Riyanka Nongsiej, Elizabeth Vincent, Vikash Rana, Purnima Rana, and Indra Sharma contributed silver medals across events, underscoring the team’s depth and competitive strength.

In another major boost for the state, Manbhalang Kharkrang, Elizabeth Vincent, and Vikash Rana have been selected for the coaching camp ahead of the Asian Games, reflecting their growing stature on the continental stage.

Congratulating the team, the Chief Minister extended best wishes for continued success, expressing confidence that Meghalaya’s canoe slalom athletes will scale greater heights in the years ahead.
